Extended VS Presentation plugin history

New in version 1.4.5 [23.05.2008] (3.4 only)

  • Another compatibility issue with Eclipse 3.4 RC1 fixed (tabs preferences API changed)

  • Any users which had problems with the custom themes settings: finally the bug 103907 was fixed in Eclipse 3.4RC1 !!!

New in version 1.4.4 [18.05.2008] (3.4 only)

  • Fixed compatibility issue with Eclipse 3.4 RC1 (tabs preferences API changed)

New in version 1.4.3 [04.03.2008] (3.3 and 3.4 only)

  • "Copy Title to clipboard" copies now real, full file path OR the editor title, if full path cannot be retrieved. Therefore it is renamed to "Copy Path to clipboard".

New in version (compatibility fix) [05.11.2007]

  • Fixed Eclipse 3.4 compatibility: in the version editor tabs menu didn't worked with Eclipse 3.4 M3, now this is fixed. Users running other Eclipse builds are not affected.

New in version (hotfix) [04.06.2007]

  • [no code change in this version]

  • Fixed 1.4 JRE compatibility: the 1.8.1 version was unintentionally compiled to 1.5 bytecode level. Sorry for any inconvenience. Users running Eclipse on top of 1.5+ JRE's are not affected.

New in version 1.4.2 (3.3 fixes only) [03.06.2007]

  • Fixed NPE on "minimize" event related to the new minimize strategy of 3.3 presentations

  • Removed "View List" view - just obsoleted by the great "Ctrl+3" feature of 3.3 Eclipse

  • Removed meaningless "Save" button from hidden view list

New in version (3.2 and 3.3 only)

  • Usability improvement for new "Editing Sessions" feature: allow to override existing sessions; allow to use all characters, allowed in file names, for session name.

New in version 1.4.0 (3.2 and 3.3 only)

New feature: Window->Editing Sessions (see also bug 105896).

Editing Sessions menu

Now it is possible to remember all opened editors in the whole window or only in the editor group, and reload them later. You could also remember opened or closed editor list as a session:

Opened editor list: <ctrl+e>
Editor tab menu

If you "Close all" editors, closed editors would be automatically remembered as "Recently closed" session. Same works if you load another session -> last editor set would be automatically remembered. This way you could never loose you working context and quickly switch from one task to another and back.

You could also manage (load, rename, duplicate, delete) saved sessions: Window->Editing Sessions->Manage Sessions... You could change the default behavoir on loading session - if the already opened editors should be closed and if you should be asked to confirm this each time:

Manage sessions dialog

Finally you could disable all this nice stuff (but do you really want?):

Editing Sessions menu enablement

Additionally I've made small improvement for minimized state layout of part title - (it shows only "restore" button now).

New in version (3.2 and 3.3 only)

  • Thrown away support for Eclipse 3.1 (no more time for it, sorry)

  • Small improvements for minimized state layout of views

  • Many performance optimizations, some smaller bugfixes

New in version (for Eclipse 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 M2)

New features

  • View's toolbar is now automatically shown in the tab area, if there is enough place

  • Toolbar and tab area visibility may be separately enabled / disabled per view stack (right click on view title bar and select/deselect "Show Tab Area" or "Show Toolbar" menu).

  • If tab area is hidden, views in the stack may be selected via context menu on the view title bar (view name+icon appears as a menu item). If toolbar is hidden, in most cases toolbar buttons may be still available through drop-down view menu (depends on view implementation)

  • Tab area may be disabled (hidden) for editors (right click on editor title bar and select/deselect "Show Tab Area" menu). The same propety may be enabled/disabled with Window -> Preferences -> General -> Editors -> Show multiple editor tabs.

  • With the changes above it is possible to dramatically save the screen space for editors/views content (set "minimalistic" theme and switch all tabs/toolbars off)

  • Current editor tab in the tab list is now always highlighted

  • For Eclipse >= 3.2 only: added new "View List" view (Window -> Show View -> Other -> General -> View List). It is similar to the standart Dialog to open views, but it is even not a *modal* dialog, and it could also close multiple views at once. I was just too lazy to always open this dialog each time I had to search for some view.

  • this is the last version for Eclipse 3.1 :( and the first supported for 3.3 :o)

  • Fix for NPE in some rare cases with drag and drop of views (bug reported by Damir Murat)

  • View's tab order in the stack was more or less random after restart - now it is the same as before closing Eclipse.

  • Layout fix related to toolbar position on Linux GTK. (SWT buttons are 4 pixel larger on GTK even if the icons are the same as on Windows)

  • 1 - pixel fix for layout if tab area should be shown on the bottom. Now you have even more content in your views for free :o)

  • Performance/resources related code cleanup. The performance with all features enabled is nearly the same as in default Eclipse presentation. With disabled toolbars and tab areas it is about 20% faster :o)

New in version 1.2.6 (for Eclipse 3.1 and 3.2)

  • added option what should be used on "Copy title to clipboard" - either the full path or the filename only

  • small bugfixes

New in version 1.2.5 (changes for Eclipse 3.2 final only)

  • bugfix for broken synchronisation of views in Java Browsing Perspective on 3.2 in some cases (thanks to Vinod who has reported this issue

New in version 1.2.4

  • another one (I hope last one) bugfix for not shown content in some "detached" views after perspective switch (thanks to Peter Oxenham who has tested and reported many issues with "detached" views)

New in version 1.2.3

  • bugfix for wrong layout of minimized views after perspective switch

  • bugfix for not shown content in some "detached" views after perspective switch

  • bugfix for editors list menu on gtk (Linux)

  • added separated color settings for tab text color

  • the "close tab on middle click" option default value is now "true"

  • the background color of selected elements in the closed parts view is now hardcoded to gray

  • exported presentation package to allow the re-use of plugin in other apps (work in progress)

  • removed dependancy to org.eclipse.ide to allow run the plugin on applications without IDE and reduced usage of internal Eclipse API's (but still too much left).

New in version 1.2.2

  • bugfix for wrong view(s) layout after "reset theme" action

  • bugfix for missing visual tab update on "save all" action

  • bugfix for non-usable "detach view" action (bug introduced with 1.2.0)

New in version 1.2.1 (internal release only)

  • added new "close tab on middle click" feature/option (default is off)

  • added new "fast tab switch " mode/option (default is off)

New in version 1.2.0

  • Rewritten all layout/paint algorithms => better performance.

  • Added great, fully customizable editor list (try <Ctrl + E>) with different sorting rules and another one list with the recently closed editors.

  • Added more options for tabs layout

  • Both top/bottom editor/view tab positions are now supported

  • Dirty editor tab has now customizable foreground color (red is default)

  • Added title over the editor tabs with full editor path of current editor

  • Title text has now customizable font size / attributes

  • Added missing view/editor menu entries from default presentation

  • Editor/view tab menus are now context-sensitive and have icons

  • One can now close any not active editor/view without to select it

  • Added new "Copy title to clipboard" action for editor tabs

  • Tab name will be truncated only if there is not enough space

  • Replaced old themes - now there are three predefined themes: "default", "hight contrast" and "minimalistic".

New in version 1.1.0

Implemented save/restore the opened views/editors order (except for Eclipse 3.2 M3, see bug 108033, fixed for M4).

Fixed implementation of custom theme settings.

Many stability bugfixes, code cleanup (fixed also problems with the M2/M3 milesone of Eclipse 3.2).

New in version 1.0.10

Added status line text for active editor with the file path info (does not work with Java editors, because they always clean status line message on activate event). Smaller refactorings. Added update site.
